Lesson 15- Human Digital Drawing

After doing a digital painting of an animal; in today’s lesson we looked at colour painting in skin tones.

We used the above image to create a digital painting of an eye. Using the eyedropper tool I used the original colours from the eye photo as well as colours from the skin colours sheet. In the same was as my animal drawing I drew an outline from the original photo on a new layer, then created a base colour on another new layer on which to start my painting.

I used a soft brush to add in different colours and used the pen pressure to vary tones. Like in my animal painting, I used the eyedropper tool to select surrounding colours to blend everything together.
I think this piece is successful as I’ve explored tone and different skin colours to create an image that stands out using low and highlights. However it could be more defined and use more varying colours to build a well rounded image. Although I will be able to make these improvements as the image is still unfinished. I will finish it adding in more tones as well as using a hard brush to add the final outlines and details.
